We arrived at Leamington under the new management team of Matt Seeley and Richard Briggs who had just under a week to put a team together to face Leamington Hibernian today.
We got off to a slow start not moving the ball quick enough and been caught in possession far too much. Leamington could quite possibly of taken an early lead after having a chance tipped round the post by Jack Bodfish the new keeper in Alcesters goal.
This kicked us into gear and we then went on to create a number of chances. Luke Dugmore been a major influence in most of these.
The deadlock was broken from a cross that eventually found new signing Tom Keogh who dispatched on the volley back across the keeper to put us one up.
This settled us and we began to pepper the Leam goal.
On the counter attack we was then caught out. There winger got inside Carter who was said to have pushed him over in the box. Never a penalty but it was given.
Bodfish dived well to his right and saved it leaving it at 0-1.
Another Alcester attack found Tom Keogh who had one touch and hit a shot bottom right to find us going in 2-0 at the break.
Second half was as simple as this we didn’t get started. We was slow to react to second ball and we didn’t punish Leamington by missing far too many chances.
Leamington got one back to make it 2-1.
In summary the game could of been 10-2 to Alcester Town. It now gives Matt and Rich a solid platform to work off in order to try and put Alcester back at the top of the table.
Thanks to Leamington Hibernian for there hospitality and good luck this year.
